Should I do a Master's or a PhD ?? (Or Should I do a PhD?)

The same question always asked by my students...and others...

...so what is this actually?

MS = Start making money fast but have to work harder to rise in a technical organisation. A Phd atleast starts off with being trusted to have the right technical experience/expertise whereas a Masters has to prove him/herself. However, in our industry (and science in general), trust and respect has to be earned. So, both have to keep earning that respect. There are no research academic positions open to a masters and no/few research positions in industry.

PhD = Start making a lot of money but after 5 years. No limits, can go to academics or industry. Can pretty much get any job one wants. However, this is not to say that a masters who works very hard cannot do the same (except research jobs). However, doing a PhD is a personal decision, based more on your philosophy of life. If you just want money, do a Masters -- better still, do a MBA ! :) For those who want a bit more and are inclined to think about the later half of their career, a PhD may prove to be useful.

The thing is... I know lots of people with MS and Phd...but they perform poorer than those people who serve them...worst is...sometimes they have no idea to their job description...papel na lng talaga ang labanan ngayon...masakit pakinggan pero minsan sila pa ang bobo considering nkatapos sila ng MS at Phd. ....and mahihilig sila magpower play...e wala nga sila alam....nkakapikon!

THERE IS A SPECIAL ROOM in hell where the flames are extra hot and you must sleep siting straight up. The sign on the door reads: Reserved for People Who Recline Their Seatbacks the Entire Flight. Most of us understand the discomfort we are inflicting on the poor schmo sitting behind us and try to limit our reclining for the flights-out portion of the flight. If everyone leans back together, in the manner of the synchronised, unattractively upholstered swim routine, then no-one is unfairly crowded.

I had a seatback diva in front of me last week. We were barely air-borne, and there she was in my lap. Using my computer would now entail making a slit in my belly flab and inserting the front half of the keyboard inside me, so that the bottom row of letters were rendered inaccessible and i would have to make do without the words banana, vixen, balaclava and many other colourful favourites.

Defeated, I tried to watch the little TV mounted in the seatback in front of me. Alas, the screen was so close to my face that my eyes were crossing. TV chef Emerif had become a set of perfectly choreograph twin Emerils, which was one or possibly two more Emerils than I could handle. In desperation, I turned to my complementary copy of Sky Mall catalogue and began to read. A mail-order was selling "the Most Compact Washing Machine in the World," enabling, I don't know, Santa's elves to do laundry in their workshop. "Tiki Head Tissue Box Dispenses Tissue Through the Nose!" another ad reported excitedly.

"Who would buy this?" I said to the man in the middle seat, but he was busy waving down a flight attendant. "Miss?" He was holding up knees. "Is there any room in the overhead bin for these?"

We hit a pocket of turbulence and Bloody Mary mix slopped onto the chinos of the man next to me. I pointed to the Most Compact Washing Machine in the World. "You need this," "I said. The man did not smile. His expression was just like the Tiki Head with tissues up its nostrils, displeased and clearly embarrassed about the situation yet resolutely stoic.

More and more, you must board a plane like a general going to war. You must constantly defend your turf-your wee, airless kingdom. The occupier of the next seat will make his move upon your armrest the moment your vigilance flags. you will return from the bathroom to find an elbow planted in the little vinyl peninsula where your people once roamed free.

The battle for armrest dominance has grown ever more intense in the era of laptop computer. The airplane seat-design to ba a chair, and never very good at it - has now been asked to perform double duty as an office. Soon people will be bringing fitness equipment and hobby craft aboard, and the company that makes the elfin washers will need to get started on looms and rowing machines.

Incredibly complex ruels apply to the space beneath your seat, for it belongs, technicaly, to the person behind you. Not long ago, I was on a transcontinental flight when I was awaken by a woman behind me, "Excuse me?" She was holding a plastic juice cup. "Excuse me? This is coming in my section."

I had put my empty cup under my seat and it has slid backwards, crossing the imaginary line in the carpeting. She was peeved. Her eyes were squinty and her nostrils were flaring as though about to dispense tissues through the nose.

People were staring, so I took the cup. Later that night, a pantyhosed foot made a stealth assoult on the back of my right armrest. It was her Juice Cup Border Patrol.

"Excuse me?" I nudge the foot at all gently, "This is coming in my section."

Several hours went by without incident. I was beginnig to drift off, when I heard a driving, tinny noise: ch-ch, ch-ch, ch-ch, ch-ch,......THe woman behind me had mobilised the most fearsome weapon in the modern airplane arsenal: the Overly Loud Headphones.

I waved my hot towel to surrender.

i have this depression since hi skul.... problem is its getting worse...good thing is ...i still have the control....sometyms i tink i can't go on...theraphy, yoga, gym, everything......a complete silence and hapiness follows, then suddenly its like a phone that some1 turns it on, my head start spinning....SAD AGAIN!

i met some1 and this person gives me hope...im sory hopes pala...this person is so important to me now that im so scared if one day the person decided or i myt not see him anymore.....but my depression doesn't stop there... wen this person doesn't send me msg nagiistart na utak ko magisip that he myt already in a far place....den a battalion of questions starts pouring into my mind....and that makes the situation worse....

One of the frustrating reality is theres nobody i cud talk to....

I'm so helpless but one thing or shud i say im gifted of making others feel more comfortable pag sila may problem,,,,i can easy mend their broken hatrs, somtym their broken pockets.... but for myself....I CAN'T.

Today is worse! I spent all last week lamenting about what will happen to me now....my future....I love wat im doing ryt now but it dsnt give me security.....barkadas are starting to part ways....some doesn't even give a damn my whereabouts..... oh i do care about my friends..

I admit that this doesn't tell my whole problem..... Facebook... d same wid other social networks.....ang trend paramihan ng frend...the more mas sikat....d nman nila lhat kilala nasalist nila....andun lng just sitting sa list of frineds nila.....Oh i need help wid this depression....

The first thing you notice about the HTC Magic is that it's got one less input device than the G1 - there's no keyboard. Instead it's a full touchscreen phone, and so can be seen as the Android platform's closest competitor yet to the iPhone.

One advantage of this is that it's not quite so ugly as the G1. It's still got the infamous Android chin, but because there's no keyboard, this shouldn't get in the way. Instead, you get a sleek looking, thinner and lighter Android phone that should appeal to more people than perhaps the G1 does, simply because the Magic has less of a business look about it without the keyboard.

Instead of a keyboard, there's a virtual keyboard that's similar to the iPhone's. Similar in design, that is, but not in functionality. Whereas the iPhone's keyboard is reasonably usable (at least for a virtual keyboard, which I'm not a fan of), the Magic's is a bit awkward. You'd expect Apple to develop a better designed virtual keyboard than HTC, of course, but you might want to try out the Magic for yoursef first before buying it to see how you find out. i considered myself a classy type of person...

but last year i started visiting UKAY-UKAY when i started

to notice some of my friends wearing WOW clothes....

or should i say..... "ang gaganda ng damit nila! TANG INA!" ... so i ask...sbi nila

sa ukay2... reallly now? YUP! sa ukay-ukay nga galing dahil

sinama nila ako sa place.... then last week iv been to negros, my coz need

something to wear for a formal occassion that night...since patok din cya magdamit...

sabi ko mag coat jacket cya....

i suggest punta ukay2....... pagdating namin sa place, ang unang

sumalubong sa amin ay malaking sign... '50 Pesos ALL ITEMS' ...uy patok to ah!

so we started to make halukay and there it is! the coat jacket na

gusto ko ipasuot sa coz ko...and its only 50php lang tlaga... ano nangyari?

ayun para kaming mga animal na tagaktak sa pawis at halungkat doon-

halungkat dito... some items have its tag pa...CELIO, U2, ZARRA... .to name

a few.... grabe tlaga ang gaganda... some napuna ko FAKE pero ano problema

dun.... just like the title of this article says nagsusuot na din ako FAKE!

since its only about status and showing off, ano problem about buying fakes

when i can carry them off.. dba wala...hehehehe... nasa nagdadala yan...

why would i spend 4 months of my hard work to own an 'it' branded clothes

who's mark up is just so cruelly exaggerated! i admit di ganyan sinasabi

You may have found ur dream gym but it takes you more than 15 to 20 mins to get there, the only place you probably going to be working out in is your dream. Another is parking. What good is a first-class gym if looking for a parking slot is like looking for the proverbial needle on the haystack? Yung iba naman kasi magdadala pa ng car para lng pumorma, sagabal pa sa parking slot. sarap butasan ng gulong. tapos daily pa sa gym pero tignan mo ang katawan di proportion at ang braso malaki ba handle ng walis namin sa bahay. hahahaha! la magagalit sinasabi ko lng 220.

PRICE

If paying your monthly dues causes a severe strain on your budget, you need to look for another gym or a non-gym alternative. Otherwise, why scrimp and suffer when you could be enjoying a quality workout at a first-class gym? On the other hand price isn't everything.

PERSONALITY

Gym are like people. They have their own personality. Some gyms are loud and brash; others are sedate and low-key. Some have younger crowd;others have mature clientele. Some gyms are friendly, other are a little aloof. and other are pugad ng mga kagimikan lalo na yung mga .......basta iyon! hehehe! o wag na magagalit...sinasabi ko lng totoo.Choose your gym like you choose your friend-make sure your personality match.

INSTRUCTORS

If you are fitness neophyte, you need caring ,knowledgable instructors who will guide you every step of the way. Sori ka na lang kung lagi ka late dumating kasi yung iba tinatake home ang mga instructor.. hahahahahaha!

EQUIPMENT

If those machines are computerized and turn you on and motivate you to keep on working out, look for a gym with a high quality exercise machines. otherwise non computerized machines will suit you just fine.

SPACE

CLick ba ang gym? well it wud look like a tiaggehan... meaning PATOK ang gym!Ifyou can't work out outside the peak hours or if you are claustrophobic, you are better off looking for a less-popular gym... but keep in mind that if a gym doesn't have crowd at peak time, it may not be open for business for long, xempre best alternative, would be to work out when you have gym to yourself.

LOCKER ROOMS

Locker rooms can range from small to large to extravagant. If you need to shower fast to get to somwhere or to work on time, a gym with many shower should be first on your list. But if your gym is near home, a small bathroom's won't really make a difference. At tandaan mag.ingat sa mga tambay sa locker rooms.. mga umaaligid sangdamukal na bading na hindi naman nag.ggym, may mga mang.nenenok pa nga gamit, at yung iba pumoporma lang dahil to display malaki nilang chest pag tiningnan mo naman ang binti chicken legs naman...sila pa ang mapoporma..

CLEANLINESS

No matter what kind of gym you choose, cleanliness is a MUST! Not every gym can affort expensive equipment, but they have absolutely no excuse for being dirty. Dirty Floors, Grimy walls,and mold infested tiles.

evrytime makikita ko ganitong eksena sa news.....'di ako makatiis at napapamura ako.... but then again iniisip ko ano ba punot dulo ng gulo sa Tibet...so i read some articles about TIBET...

Naisip ko that Tibetans will have to live wid the chinese.....forever?

I mean, This is the fact that culturally, at geographically at pareho sila religion.... and even the Dalai ay nirerecognised that many Tsinoy shared religion. Dalai said..." "Tibetan culture and Buddhism are part of Chinese culture. Many young Chinese like Tibetan culture as a tradition of China."

There was also also an agreement between this Dalai and the Beijing government about Tibet. The only argument raised later by the Dalai about the agreement was that the Chinese implemented land reform ahead of time. Zhou Enlai met 3 times with him in India in 1956 and promised to postpone the land reform indefinitely.

so ano pa, d'ko na pinatagal, tumawag na ako sa no naflsh sa screen.. kahit pamasahe ko ginastos ko na... maglakad na lng ako papasok, sabagay papawisan ako....tanggal din konting calorie.....1st day ko sa opis... putcha bakit tatlo ang tingin ko sa screen ng pc ko.... at ng lumapit ang boss ko na korean muntik na ako mapasigaw dahil ang tingin ko sa kanya ay isang demonyo!..... hayop na pills 'yan naadik yata ako... so wala din nangyari.....

The young Filipina singer recorded six songs of various genres to cater to the US and UK markets. Among the songs recorded were her own versions of "I Will Always Love You" (Whitney Houston original), "Stay" (Shakespeare Sisters original), "All The Money In the World" (an original song sourced by Ten Songs for Charice), and "Running Up That Hill" (Kate Bush original). Ten Songs Productions is continuously looking for more materials for her.

3days ago, napanood ko sa news about sa pagtatalo ng mga opisyal regarding sa mga textbook na nilalabas at inaprubahan ng ched at decs yata 'yun. Ang kaso naman ngayon ay malaswa daw at hindi tama ang mga ginamit na salita. Hindi ito yung mga mali ang spelling, ibang kaso 'yun. Ang pinagdidibatehan nila ngayon ay ang salita na nilagay sa mga libro tulad ng 'bulbol' o kung ano-ano pa. Goodness! Ano pa ba ang salita doon kundi iyon. ang isang alam ko ay, balahibo sa ari. Pero ang talagang salita na ukol doon ay bulbol. So, ano kinagagalit nila. May isang prof dun at isang opisyal ng decs na nagsasabing kasalanan nila at hindi nila napansin at yung prof naman sinasabi niya na bastos nga ang salita. Kailan pa ba tayo matututo at tatanggapin natin ang salita na iyan. Iyon talaga ang salita para doon, e ano gusto n'yo gamitin ng sumusulat ng libro? Hindi pa ba tayo handa sa ganyang salita? Ewan ko sa kanila, masyado sila sa katwiran nila. Naturingan kayong mga opisyal hindi kayo mangatwiran sa tamang edad at posisyon n'yo! Akala ko ba dapat ipatupad ang sex education sa mga bata upang hindi lumaking mga mangmang at dapat may malawak na kaalaman pag dating sa mga bagay na iyan. Paano matututo ang mga iyan kung ang salitang bulbol ay pag-aawayan n'yo pa. Ano gusto n'yo pubic hair? Kasi hindi bastos sa tenga. E ano ba sa tagalog ang salitang iyan? susmaryosep kayo...kung ako'y nasa elementarya at ang libro na matatanggap ko ay galing sa inyo. mag-aaral na lang ako ng sarili ko dahil ayokong lumaking mangmang!

artemis fowl series..pabalik ang story ng seventh dwarf
In "The Seventh Dwarf" special edition World Book Day publication and
The Artemis Fowl Files, he assists Artemis to steal the Fei Fei tiara from a gang of
six dwarves called "The Significants". He narrowly escapes being caught by Holly Short.

SPOILER WARNING:

In the series chronology, The Seventh Dwarf takes place between Artemis Fowl and Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident. Artemis sets Mulch Diggums to steal the Fei Fei tiara. Holly Short catches Artemis with the tiara but he manages to swap the priceless blue diamond for a fake. In the end the reader dicovers Artemis stole the diamond because its colour reminded him of his father's eyes. He gives the diamond to his mother as a present, and promises her he will find his father. This is one of the few acts of kindness Artemis shows in the series.

In the first book, Artemis Fowl, he is blackmailed by the Lower Elements Police (LEP) to assist in the siege of Fowl Manor. He is able to infiltrate the manor by burrowing under the wine cellar. He finds out that Artemis's secret weapon is a copy of the Book of the People. He fakes his death in a cave in in a bid for freedom, and steals bars of gold from the LEP Holly Short ransom fund before tunneling away.

opening ng class dis month... ng mag salita ang acting oic ng decs
at nabanggit nya ang kakulangan ng classroom...
at nagalit ang president, dahil lagi daw binabatikos ang
govt dahil sa kakulangan ng classroom. sabi ng president
wala ng kakulangan sa classroom.. ryt there and then
nasupalpal ang oic at nabago ang statement nya at sinabi
nya wala ng kakulangan sa classroom... then nagkita ulit ang mga
members na binuo para tumutok sa opening ng pasukan...
dumalo ulit ang president, then ng papasukin na ang media,
hindi pinagsalita ang oic.... kasi naman, ano yung
sinasabi nyo walang kakulangan.. yung picture jan sa itaas,
matatawag nyo bang classroom?... ano ba naman humugot ng konting budget
magkano lng price ng hallow blocks at sack ng cement at yero...
cguro naman di aabot sa php10,000 maganda na yan..at disente

It's a semi comic/grapic book... naisip ko lng, uso kasi graphic novel
at kakaunti ang pinoy na nakikita ko gumagawa ng novel/book.

Sana maka contribute ako.... lahat foreign nalang nakikita ko sa
bookstore...

ok... bigyan ko kyo konti story abt my book...
ang tema nito ay magycal.. since fanatic ako ng harry potter at
bartimaeus trilogy... but i mke sure d pareho...
as i sed magycal sya , intrigue, fantasy, history, thriller and
comical. Binuhay ko dito sa book ang national landmark
natin like; national library, qc memorial circle, barsoain church, etc...
kasama din dito ibang national heroes natin; aguinaldo, bonifacio, etc.
also, binuhay ko din ang history ng moneraty notes natin. the peso.
At higit sa lahat ang mga local creatures natin like aswang, sigbin, kumakatok,
kapre, minokawa, bungisngis, at madami pang iba, na ngayon ko lng din
nadiscover, na ang dami pla nating ganitong creatures at sobra
daming idea ang makukuha mo para makagawa ng kathang isip
na nobela.

Ang hinahanap ko ngayon ay mga taong pde mag edit ng
book ko... tagalog ito.. pero ang hirap pla ng tagalog
d ko alam kung tama spelling ko... so wanted ang mga magaling
sa tagalog... bibigyan ko ng copi ng book ko, b4 ko ito
ipaprint... ofcors kasama yung name ng taong nagedit.

Lastly, ang target ko pag nerelease ito ay national bookstore,fullybooked,
at powerbook siempre... i hope magustuhan ng mga mahihilig
magbasa ng book ang story ko at suportahan nila....
ginawako ito para talaga madagdagan ang kakaunti na mga
book na pinoy sa market.... ang daming magagaling magsulat jan, kaya
lang nasaan sila. sa book ko, novel na cya grapic pa!
